METHOD AND DEVICE FOR READING BAR CODE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a feature point indicating a specific bar code kind when more than one kinds of bar code are present by making a feature point check severer in degree when it is decided that a scan kind is an expected scan kind than when it is decided that the scan kind is another scan kind. SOLUTION: Bar width data sent from a memory 9 to a CPU is sent to a bar code detection part 31. The bar code data detection part 31 detects whether or not the read data is that of a bar code according to the bar width data read out of the memory 9 and the feature points of the bar code are further extracted here. The data decided as the bar-code data by the bar code detection part 31 is stored temporarily in a buffer 39a and then sent to a retrieval part 39b. The retrieval part 39b retrieves data regarding the feature points among the data stored in the buffer 39a and decides the kind of the read bar code from the retrieved feature points.
