PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device, in which no excessive rush current flows when power is supplied and which has a high power factor and decreased harmonic distortion, and a lighting system using the same. SOLUTION: A voltage doubler rectifier means 2 including a first capacitor C1 and a second capacitor C2 of small capacitance is connected between ac terminals 1a, 1b, and a first inductor L1 is connected between the rectifier means and the first capacitor C1. An inverter 3, having a third capacitor C3 of large capacitance, which is charged at the dc output of the rectifier means and at a high frequency, and having a pair of switching means 3b1, 3b2 connected in series, is connected, and when one of the switching means is on, some of the components of the inverter 3 constitute a chopper, and further a feedback circuit is connected between the load circuit of the inverter 3 and each ac terminal. |
