1. A method comprising:
receiving a write request to store data in a non-volatile recording medium, the write request comprising metadata associated with the data, the metadata comprising an expiration parameter of the data and one or more logical addresses identifying a storage location of the data in the non-volatile recording medium; storing the data and the metadata in the non-volatile medium, wherein at least a portion of the metadata is stored sequentially with the data; examining the metadata associated with the data stored in the non-volatile recording medium; and expiring the data identified by the one or more logical addresses from the storage location in the non-volatile recording medium in response to the expiration parameter indicating that an expiration period for the data has been satisfied.
