<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the slag-making property by increasing a molten metal stirring effect during a flux injection without adding fluorite, and to generate a versatile slag of excellent quality which contains no fluorine or non-slag lime in the molten condition, is suitable for a phosphatic and potassic fertilizer, and a raw material of cement and a road bed material. SOLUTION: Powder calcium hydroxide is added to lime flux containing powder quick lime. Alternatively, most of lime flux is changed into calcium hydroxide. These stuffs may be of lump shapes as necessary. The calcium hydroxide is fed into the molten metal in a metal smelting furnace, and the calcium hydroxide is decomposed into quick lime large in a specific surface area. Slight steam explosion generated during the decomposition is intentionally induced, the contact of the molten metal and the flux together with a carrier gas is promoted, and the hydroxide flux is reacted with sulfur and phosphoric acid in the molten metal to promote generation of the molten slag.</p> |
