PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recorder employing an ink cartridge containing ink of more than one color in which reliability is enhanced in the detection of ink end when the quantity of any one ink decreased below a specified level. SOLUTION: A cartridge holder CH to be loaded with an ink cartridge containing ink is arranged with an ink end detection lever 75. The detection lever 75 has one end supported rotatably by a shaft 75a and a free end provided with a protrusion 75b abutting against an ink end detector 76. When the quantity of ink in any one ink cartridge is decreased, a working point for actuating the detection lever 75 is located at an intermediate point between the fulcrum and the free end of the detection lever 75 and the ink end detector 76 is subjected to on/off control by enlarging the motion stroke. |
