<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-dimensional sample signal quantization method considering strong dependency between multi-dimensional sample components and capable of effectively utilizing the partially lacked frame of quantized signals. SOLUTION: This method includes the continuous two stages of the stage (A) for preparing the set of N pieces of vectors for which a coefficient is formed by the transformation coefficient of the same column at the N pieces of transformation bottoms of a characteristic variable for respective multi-dimensional samples and the stage (B) for connecting the set of the N pieces of the vectors. Furthermore, the method includes the final stage far executing the successive quantization of the set of the N pieces of the vectors. The method is applied to the compression of color images.</p> |
