PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a coating liquid uniformly in the longitudinal direction of each of the paired rolls to enable uniform coating by forming a slit in the longitudinal direction of a coating liquid supply passage arranged in the longitudinal direction above the nip between the rolls and causing the coating liquid to overflow from a slit to supply the coating liquid to a liquid well between both rolls. SOLUTION: The device 1 for supplying a coating liquid for a roll coater has a coating liquid supply passage 11 arranged in the longitudinal direction above the nip between the coater roll 3 and a doctor roll 4. Further a split 111 is formed longitudinally in the upper side part of the coating liquid supply passage 11. Thus the coating liquid to be supplied through the coating liquid supply passage 11 is caused to overflow from the slit 111 to be supplied uniformly in the longitudinal direction of a liquid well 5. On the other hand, the slit 111 is also formed in the longitudinal direction in the upper part of a coating liquid discharge passage 21 at a device 2 for draining a coating liquid for a roll coater arranged in the coating liquid stored in the liquid well 5. Thus the coating liquid is likewise caused to overflow from the slit 111 and drain uniformly into the longitudinal direction of the liquid well 5.
