PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinked cyclopentadienyl compound useful for a raw material for anα-olefin polymerization catalyst, or the like at high yield by reacting a cyclopentadienyl compound with an alkali metal (or an alkaline-earth metal) or the like and then by removing nonpolar solvent-soluble ingredients, followed by reacting the reaction product with a crosslinking agent. SOLUTION: A crosslinked cyclopentadienyl compound useful as a ligand for a metallocene known as a homogeneous catalyst forα-olefin polymerization, or the like is expressed by the formula [R1, R2, R4 and R5 are each H, a halogen, a 1-10C hydrocarbon, a 1-18C silicon-containing hydrocarbon, or the like; R3 and R6 are each a bivalent hydrocarbon forming a fused ring to five- membered ring combined with each of them; R7 and R8 are each a halogen, a 1-20C (halogenated) hydrocarbon, or the like; (m) and (n) are each 0-20; Q is a 1-20C bivalent hydrocarbon, silylene, germirene] and is obtained at high yield by reacting a cyclopentadienyl compound with an alkali metal (or an alkaline-earth metal) or its metallic compound, by removing nonpolar solvent- soluble ingredients from the reaction product and by reacting the metallic cyclopentadienyl compound ingredient with a crosslinking agent.
