PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which can make individual potential of pixel electrodes and counter electrodes more definite than heretofore and which can precisely correct crosstalk in horizontal direction and method for driving it. SOLUTION: Distortion of a counter electrode wave-form is suppressed with a decoupling capacitor C1 and on the other hand as a ripple component of distortion wave-form at a counter electrode 104 is directly taken out from a terminal used exclusively for detection T12 through a ripple detection circuit L1 which is an impedance circuit without intermediary of the decoupling capacitor, detecting accuracy toward the distortion of the counter electrode wave-form based on the ripple component from the terminal used exclusively for detection T12 is improved to detect the distortion of the counter electrode wave-form of its own and the distortion signal is fed back to a driving signal D1 on a data signal line with this signal.
