摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interpolation arithmetic unit and its method where an interpolation arithmetic operation can be conducted by incorporating a characteristics of the nearest neighbor approximation method and a characteristics of the bilinear approximation method at a flexible ratio. SOLUTION: A video signal is given to an input terminal 1. A multiplier 4 multiplies a filter coefficient h1(p) with an inter-stage tap output of delay circuits 2, 3 and a multiplier 5 multiplies a filter coefficient h2(p) with an output of the delay circuit 3 respectively, and an adder circuit 9 sums the outputs of the multipliers 5, 6 to conduct an interpolation arithmetic operation. A coefficient generating circuit 6 receives phase information (p) and coefficient adjustment dataα. The nearest neighbor approximation method or the bilinear approximation method can be selected based on the coefficient adjustment data. An intermediate characteristics between the nearest neighbor approximation method and the bilinear approximation method, a characteristics closer to the characteristics of the nearest neighbor approximation method of the above two methods or a characteristics closer to that of the bilinear approximation method of the above two methods is freely selected.
