PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To scarcely cause a change in the roughness or shape of embossing even when updating of a mold release agent treating layer provided on a surface of an embossed roll is repeated how often by updating an original mold release agent treating layer with new mold release agent treating after the layer is removed by dissolving with chemicals. SOLUTION: The embossed roll is formed by embossing a surface of a metal roll, metal plating the surface and further providing a mold release agent treating layer thereon. When the treating layer of a surface of the roll is worn or obtained by no desired roughness or shape of embossing, the layer is updated. The updating is conducted by removing the old treating layer formed on the surface of the roll by dissolving it with chemicals, and then forming a new mold release agent treating surface by new mold release gent treating. In this case, the embossing is protected by metal plating, and hence the embossing is not eroded with the chemicals. Even when updating is repeated how often, roughness and shape of the embossing are not changed. |
