Apparatus for welding weldable films

The welding unit(20) produces a longitudinal welded seal between two film layers(21,22) of a packaging film enclosing objects and comprises a rotating heated cutting and welding wheel(17) and a counter wheel(18) for cutting off excess film outside the weld line. The cutting and welding wheel is hard and/or stiff and the counter wheel is semi-flexible in the working area.
