<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade the unnecessary use of network resources by an unrelated receiving host by not setting up a shortcut path unnecessary by postponing setting up a shortcut path until a prune message possibly arrives. SOLUTION: A transmitting host SH broadcasts an Internet protocol(IP) packet flow to receiving hosts RH1 to RH6 through switching routers SR1 to SR11. To indicate that the RH1 to RH6 do not desire to receive the IP packet flow, the prune message is sent to the switching routers SR1 to SR11 in the direction of the transmitting host SH and the reception is postponed until the prune message possibly arrives, so that a shortcut path is not set up unnecessarily. Consequently, an unrelated receiving host sends the prune message to indicate that and network resources are not used unnecessarily.</p> |
