PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacturing method of an optical fiber type multi- branch coupler in which optical fibers are arranged parallelly to each other, melt-sticking in a contact state by a uniform force, and in which variance is small in the optical intensity to be outputted, providing a stable performance. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the optical fiber type multi-branch coupler, which is obtained by heating and drawing the N pieces (provided N>=7) of optical fibers 3, is characterized by arranging all N-1 pieces of fibers around one center fiber in a surrounding manner, applying a uniform force around the surrounding fibers vertically to the axial direction of the optical fibers and in the direction to the center fiber, heating and melt-sticking the center fiber and the surrounding fibers together in a state of close contact, and then heating/drawing to taper so that a desired branching characteristic is obtained. |
