PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully automate changing work while a die cassette assembly changing device does not interfere with other deices by arranging an elevation tray of upper/lower two stage structure capable of elevation movement/back-forth movement at the side part of the operation side of an extrusion press and performing receipt/delivery of the die cassette assembly between die slide units. SOLUTION: A die cassette 60 for changing and indirect extrusion is placed on a change table 42 and is moved to a die change unit 30 side, the assembly 60 is transferred on an upper step tray 34a. The elevation tray 34 is advanced and is further moved upward, a lower step tray 34b is waited at a receiving/ delivering position by a die slide unit 20. Next, the assembly 60 in use is released from fixing, is moved from a die slide 24 to the die change 30 side and is placed on the lower step tray 34b. By descending the elevation tray 34, the assembly 60 for change on the upper step tray 34a is sent to the center of an extrusion press 10 to be mounted.
