PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simulate and test at a high accuracy a rotor, etc., of an actual rotary machine using a bearing under test in the test of the bearing. SOLUTION: The bearing tester comprises a test rotary shaft 12 fitted with a bearing under test to form a test rotary system, a means 16 for loading the test rotary system, a means 18 for measuring the load on the test rotary system, a means 19 for measuring the displacement of the test rotary system, and a control system holding a mathematical model about the rotor of a rotary machine. The control system calculates the motion condition of the test rotary system at a specified time (t+Δt) lapsed after the time of measuring the load and the displacement from measured values of the load and the displacement obtained by the load measuring means 18 and the displacement measuring means 19 and the mathematical model, and controls the loading means so as to load under the condition of realizing the calculated motion condition at the time (t+Δt).
