摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion control device for an internal combustion engine to suppress worsening of fuel consumption by insuring an opportunity, where stratified combustion is executed, as much as possible. SOLUTION: An engine 10 is provided with a vaporizing fuel treating mechanism 30 to adsorb vaporizing fuel generated in a fuel feed system to a canister 31 and purge the adsorbed vaporizing fuel to a surge tank 16 together with air. An electronic control device 40 calculates a flow rate integrating value of purge gas and decides a decision value corresponding to a generation amount of vaporizing fuel based on an outside air temperature and an engine load. The electronic control device 40 decides that treating capacity of a vaporizing fuel treating mechanism 30 has no treatment capacity being high enough to match a generation amount of vaporizing fuel when a flow rate integrated value of purge gas is below a decision value and prohibits stratified combustion and forcibly switches the combustion mode of the engine 10 to homogeneous combustion.
