Provided is a retainer for a thrust bearing that periodically must be assembled/disassembled for cleaning or the like, wherein the retainer itself has superior ball-retaining ability, and the balls can be removed and installed easily. Also provided is a thrust bearing equipped with this retainer. This retainer (1) for a thrust bearing, which retains multiple balls sandwiched between a pair of bearing rings in the thrust bearing, comprises a ring-shaped plate member (2) that is an injection-molded body of a resin composition for which an injection-moldable fluorine resin is the base resin. The ring-shaped plate member (2) has multiple ball pockets (3) in the circumferential direction of the ring, and the ball pockets (3) have claw sections (3a) and the like, which retain balls (5) in a removable manner and are divided into two or more parts. The claw sections (3a) and the like comprise regions that are provided by means of slits (4) formed at the periphery of openings (3d) of the ball pockets (3), said regions being on at least one surface (2a) of the surfaces of the ring-shaped plate member (2) that oppose the bearing rings. |
