PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely enlarge a valid band, without depending on the content of transfer data and to eliminate the need of managing a byte unit. SOLUTION: A data frame has the multi-connection ATM cell of variable length, whose cell length including an overhead area and a payload area is n (positive integer)-times as much as the cell length of the ATM cell of 53 bytes and which includes a data length display part DL showing cell length as overhead information as a data format mapped on the data frame.
