PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adapt the contrast and the luminance of the whole picture to the sensibility of a human eye. SOLUTION: Opening processing and closing processing are given to an original picture to make the average of the result of opening processing and the result of closing processing a blurred picture as luminance correcting reference (S2). Then, the ratio of a luminance upper limit value with respect to a difference between the luminance upper limit value and the blurred picture is multiplied to a difference between the blurred picture and the original picture to correct the luminance of the original picture (S3). Therefore while lowering the luminance of a high luminance part occupying a prescribed area, the luminance of the original picture is corrected based on the blurred picture improving the contrast of the part, the contrast and the luminance of the whole picture can be adapted to the sensibility of the human eye. |
