PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve an automatic transmission shift busy problem which may be caused at gear shift up while a vehicle climbs on the upgrade with acceleration. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission comprises a transmission gear set, a control unit controlling the gear shifting of the transmission gears, an actuator which carry out the gear shifting based upon a signal from the control unit and has an automatic shifting gear mode which can be automatically shifting gears in accordance with the predetermined map. During the automatic shifting gear mode, the gear shifting is suppressed if the controller judges that the gear shifting within the predetermined gear ratio is required from the map before the predetermined time t is elapsed after gear shifting. In this case, the gear shifting within the predetermined gear shifting ratio is preferably one step shift down. Furthermore, after gear shifting, the controller allows the gear shifting if the gear sifting beyond the above mentioned predetermined gear shifting ratio is required from the above mentioned map even if before the predetermined time t is elapsed.
