IMAGE DATA DECODING DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent propagation of deterioration of an image quality and to reproduce smooth movement even when a packet fails to arrive before reproduction/display timing specified by a time stamp. SOLUTION: An output controller 104 outputs encoded data contained in a packet arrived delayed when compared to reproduction/display timing specified by a time stamp to a decoder 105 together with encoded data contained in a packet specified by the next time stamp. The decoder 105 first decodes the encoded data contained in the packet arrived as delayed, updates the reproduced image decoded one-image earlier than the decoded image, and then decodes the encoded data contained in the packet arrived before the reproduction/display timing specified by the time stamp.
