PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly salt water-absorbable fiber which has a high physiological saline absorption performance, scarcely exhibits the reduction of weight and the deterioration of the physiological saline absorption performance, and simultaneously has good washing resistance. SOLUTION: This highly salt water-absorbable fiber is characterized by having a physiological saline absorption performance represented by 5 to 15 times of the self weight, when not having a washed history, having a weight retention of >=90%, after repeatedly washed 10 times, and having a physiological saline absorption performance retention of >=85%. The highly salt water- absorbable fiber not only has the high physiological saline absorption performance but also scarcely deteriorates the physiological saline absorption performance due to the repeated washing treatments. Thereby, the highly salt water- absorbable fiber can be applied to the users of cares, lines, and clothes.
