COATING HAVING WATER-REPELLENCY AND HYDROPHILICITY, AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating having excellent water-repellency together with hydrophilicity, and to provide a method of producing it in a simple way. SOLUTION: This method of producing a coating comprises the steps of forming a petaline transparent alumina film on the substrate, treating the film by corona discharge or plasma treatment to remove impurities or adsorbed water on the surface and to activate the surface giving hydrophilicity to the surface, coating a water-repellent film partially on the alumina film to give water-repellency while in other area, the activated petaline transparent alumina film remained exposed, or further coating a hydrophilic film thereon to give hydrophilicity.
