SIDE THRUSTER FOR CATAMARAN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side thruster for a catamaran capable of enhancing a lateral force and also thrusting performance. SOLUTION: Side thrusters 5, 6 for the catamaran comprise thruster holes 8 and 9 extending so as to cross the thrust directional axis on catamaran lateral bodies 1 and 2, and thruster screws 10 provided in the thruster holes 8 and 9, respectively. The side thrusters further comprise opening and closing lids 13a and 13b provided on the inner end parts 8a and 9a and outer end parts 8b and 9b of each thruster hole 8, 9 of the lateral bodies 1 and 2 and rotated about rotating shafts 12 to open and close the thruster holes 8 and 9; and rotating drives for performing a switching so as to retain the opening lids 13a and 13b in close positions right-angled to the axes of the thruster holes 8 and 9 and in full open positions parallel to the exes of the thruster holes 8 and 9.
