PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using it, capable of maintaining the battery's good cycle characteristic and enhancing low-temperature characteristics. SOLUTION: For the nonaqueous electrolyte obtained by dissolving an electrolyte salt into a organic solvent, the solvent contains as essential components a cyclic carbonate compound represented by the chemical formula (1) and at least one kind of chain ester compound represented by the general formula (2).
