<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct switching by referring to the header information of a third layer and higher layers, in a packet transfer device having a layer two switch. SOLUTION: Input/output ports 1a-1c receive packets from and transmit packets to other devices connected to a packet transfer device. A header information extraction circuit 1e extracts header information, belonging to the three layers (network layers) and higher layers of a network protocol from the packets inputted, respectively inputted from those input/output ports 1a-1c. A table 1g stores the header information and control information, corresponding to the header information in association with each other. A control information acquisition circuit 1f acquires control information, corresponding to the header information extracted by the header information extraction circuit 1e from the table 1g. A processing circuit 1d processes the packets, based on the control information acquired by the control information acquisition circuit 1f.</p> |
