PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage medium for storing video data, its recording method, a recorder, a reproducing method and a reproducing device. SOLUTION: The method for recording video data on an information storage medium is characterized in that it includes a step (a) of decoding the video data, a step (b) of encoding the decoded video data in different to the original one, a step (c) of generating video conversion information to be referenced to decode the video data to the same state as the original state, and a step (d) of recording the generated video conversion information and the video data that are re-encoded to the information storage medium. Accordingly, the video data can be properly reproduced even if the data are re-encoded in different way to the original one.
