PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver that can quickly cope with a deteriorated video image without giving a sense of incongruity to a viewer on the occurrence of the deteriorated video image due to a deteriorated reception environment. SOLUTION: When the reception environment of the digital broadcast receiver and a video image deterioration detection circuit 10 detects a decrease in a reception level, a display device 15 displays a message such as 'a corrected video image is displayed because the reception state is deteriorated at present' when a video image correction circuit 12 corrects the video image, and also the display device 15 displays a message such as 'sound is tentatively interrupted' together with message above. The video image correction circuit 12 reads a frame image of only I picture or of I and P pictures and applies correction to the frame image without reading a frame image of B picture much deteriorated as its control.
