PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium which makes the higher density of recording with a blue laser possible and has an excellent crosswriting characteristic and reproducing device for the same. SOLUTION: A first dielectric layer 12, recording layer 13, thermal diffusion layer 14, second dielectric layer 15, reflection layer 16 and protective film 17 are laminated on a substrate 11. The lands 11A and grooves 11B are formed on the substrate 11 and a land and groove recording system is adopted. The depth D of the grooves 11B is >=λ/(4.n) to <=λ/(2.n) when the refractive index of the substrate 11 is defined as n and the wavelength of a light sources asλand the good crosswriting characteristic can be obtained even if the wavelengthλof the light source is specified to 400 nm and the numerical aperture NA of a lens to 0.6. A phase compensation quantity is changed in the regions corresponding to the lands 11A and the regions corresponding to the grooves 11B, thereby, the crosstalks from the adjacent tracks are canceled.
