A liquid-crystal display device comprises a front-light unit (200a) including a frame (151) and a holder (112). The frame (151) includes holes (161a, 162a, 163a, 164a) to be engaged with claws (114, 115, 116, 117) provided on the hoder (112). This structure facilitates fixing the holder (112) to the frame (151) and allows a liquid-crystal panel (120) and a light-guide plate (132) to be fixed between the frame (151) and the holder (112).
