PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head receiving the output from sensor elements for monitoring various states of a recording head and outputting digital data, and a recorder employing that recording head. SOLUTION: Output from the elements for detecting the state of a recording head, e.g. information indicative of the temperature of a substrate 101, the resistance of an electrothermal transducer, the ON resistance of a power transistor for driving the electrothermal transducer, and the like, is entirely digitized at an A/D conversion block 130 on a substrate before being delivered as digital information to the outside. An arrangement for preventing increase in the number of wirings or the area of the substrate through use of a clock signal and a latch signal being used for transferring recording data to the recording head is also provided.
