PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot device capable of improving the entertainment property by far and a control method therefor. SOLUTION: This robot device discriminates whether a detected external condition is a condition for causing human reflex movement or not after detecting the external condition and controls a drive system corresponding to a motion command corresponding to the reflex movement by taking precedence of the motion command corresponding to the reflex movement generated based on the results of discrimination over a motion command based on movement other than the reflex movement so that it is possible to bring about the same action as a case where as if a person acts reflexively in accordance with an external situation on real time.
