PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the drawback of the conventional dust collectors that the dust connectors cannot be applied to dust collection for a mail sorting machine. SOLUTION: The dust collector for the mail sorting machine comprises a dust collector body having a sucking port at its front and internally including filtering means and an exhauster and hoods for closing at least one flank, top surface and back of a forward space of the sucking port and for compartmentalizing the dust suction space communicatively connected to the sucking port. The hoods consist of a first hood element which is a partition wall extending forward on the front right side of the dust collector body and is folded to one flank of the dust collector body, a second hood element which is a partition wall extending diagonally to close the front upper side from the top surface of the first hood element and is folded to be superposed on the first hood element, a third hood element which is a partition wall extending laterally from the front left side and is folded to the other flank of the dust collector body, and a fourth hood element which is a wall to close the hole formed among the top end of the third hood element, the front top end and the rear edge of the second hood element and is folded to be superposed on the second hood element.
