PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate whether to be an authentic disk or a copied disk. SOLUTION: A first disk ID reproduced from a PMA (program memory area) area and a second disk ID recorded in a PA (program area) area and obtained by reproducing the PA area and read, the disk is determined to be an authentic one when both IDs are identical, and the disk is determined to be a copied one if not. Since a unique disk ID is recorded in the PMA at initialization of the disk, the disk ID of the authentic disk is different from that of a copied disk from the beginning. This difference is utilized as disk discrimination information, and the discrimination of the difference is realized by recording the disk ID of the authentic disk in the PA area.
