PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor controller which protects a motor from temperature and fully exhibits the motor performance. SOLUTION: There are provided temperature sensors 24 and 26 which detect the temperature of a motor, motor output controlling means 104, 122, and 124 which limit the output of the motor if the temperature T of the motor is equal to the limiting temperature or above, a temperature rate of change detecting part 128 which detects a rate of change (r) of the temperature detected by the temperature senor, and a limiting temperature setting means 126, which sets a limit temperature to a first limit temperature T1, if the change rate (r) of the temperature detected by the temperature change rate detecting part 128 is equal to a prescribed change rate r0 or higher; while it sets the limit temperature to a second limit temperature T2 which is higher than the first limit temperature T1, if the change rate (r) of the temperature is lower than the prescribed change rate r0.
