<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device generating a terahertz wave having high light power efficiency and a narrow spectrum line width. <P>SOLUTION: A terahertz wave oscillation amplifying mixer has a single- crystal raman laser 1 having a bulk or an optical waveguide, and a light introducing means 4 for introducing pumping light 2 for raman excitation and synchronous injected light 3. The raman laser 1 has a light incidence and face 10 and a light emission end face 11 facing the light incidence end face, and both of them constitute the end face of an optical resonator. The difference frequency between the synchronous injected light and the pumping light is guided out as a terahertz wave 5. Consequently, the terahertz wave having a frequency equal to a difference frequency between the pumping light and the synchronous injected light, and having a frequency-variable narrow spectrum line width between 0.3 THz to 11 THz, can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
