PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel excavator which makes tunnel excavating work efficient by preventing clogging by suppressing the adhesion of excavated sediment to a chamber so as to make the excavated sediment flow appropriately. SOLUTION: A ring gear 20 is rotatably supported on the front of a cylindrical excavator body 11, so as to be capable of being driven and rotated by a drive motor 21; a cutter head 25 is coupled to the front end of the ring gear 20 via a cylindrical center tube 24; a rotary joint 29 is arranged in the center tube 24; and the excavator body 11, the ring gear 20, a cutter drum 23, the center tube 24, the cutter head 25 and the rotary joint 29 are arranged coaxially.
