<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a gas sensor from being damaged while elevating a temperature up to a sensor activating temperature for the sensor provided in an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: Pre-heating electrification control for electrification at low electric power not reaching to the activation temperature is executed in prior to activation electrification control for electrification at electric power capable of elevating the gas sensor 151 up to the activation temperature, in an ECU 13 for executing electrification control for a heater of the gas sensor 151. A sensor main body of the gas sensor 151 is precluded thereby from being brought into a high temperature while the possibility of wetting exists in the sensor main body of the gas sensor 151, and moisture is evaporated gradually without generating bumping, even when the liquid-drop-like moisture exists in an inside of the sensor main body of the gas sensor 151. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
