PURPOSE: A compression ratio-variable engine is provided to absorb impact produced in restricting the position of rotating motion of an axis by simplified constitution. CONSTITUTION: A compression ratio-variable engine has a connecting rod(64) one end of which is connected to a piston(38) through a piston pin(63); a sub-rod(68) connected to a crankshaft(27) through a crank pin(65) and connected to the other end of the connecting rod; a control rod(69) one end of which is connected to the sub-rod at a position deviated from a connection position of the connection rod; an axis(81) rotatably supported to an engine body(21); and an eccentric shaft(61) installed to the eccentric position of the axis and connected to the other end of the control rod. The compression ratio-variable engine changes a compression ratio by changing the rotating position of the axis. The compression ratio-variable engine includes a one-way clutch(85) installed between the axis and the engine body, to restrict the rotation direction of the axis; a rotation movement position-restricting unit(89) selectively restricting the rotation movement position of the axis; and absorbing units(120,145,162) absorbing load acting on at least one of the axis and the rotation movement position-restricting unit, in changing the compression ratio.
