PURPOSE: In case that a software error is generated in an operating system domain, a method for processing an operating system fault in the duplicated switching system is provided to initialize the associated operating system and to reexecute the application. CONSTITUTION: A file table is initialized into read only by a MMU(Memory Management Unit)(T1). Each domain-wise checksum is generated and stored in the associated file table(T2). An active mode side detects error generation(T3), generates an exception, stores a machine contest in an interrupt processing part(T4) and confirms whether the generated error is of a user domain or a kernel domain(T5). In case that the generated error is of the user domain, the active mode side removes the user application and continues executing(T6). In case that the generated error is of the kernel domain, the active mode side attempts restarting(T7) and transmits a restarting request to a standby mode side at the same time(T8). The standby mode side confirms the reception of the restarting request according to the request of the active mode side(T9), and confirms the initial data of the application and the integrity of the data base using the checksum stored in the file table(T10).
