<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety without separately providing a safety switch even if roller supporting frames are removable. <P>SOLUTION: An X-ray foreign object detecting apparatus 1 comprises a conveyance means 11 of an object to be inspected having the removable roller supporting frames 23 at both the ends; a shielding case 3 that shields the upper space of the conveyance means 11 and has a front opening 13 and an opening 125 shielded by the roller supporting frame 23; a conveyance means cover 15 for shielding the front opening 13 so that the front opening 13 can be opened and closed; an X-ray generation means 9 for irradiating the object to be inspected conveyed by the conveyance means 11 with X rays; an X-ray detection means 19 for detecting the presence or absence of foreign objects in the object to be inspected by detecting the X rays transmitting through the object to be inspected; and a detection means 17 for detecting the opening/closing state of the conveyance means cover 15 for outputting a signal. When the roller supporting frames 23 are removed from the conveyance means 11, the conveyance means cover 15 cannot be fitted, thus allowing the detection means 17 to function for disabling actuation and hence eliminating the risk of the leakage of X rays from the opening 125. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
