<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving machine capable of optimizing flow of force and suppressing requirement in adjacent structure low and space requirement for the driving machine to the minimum and to provide a method for attaching it. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to an elevator device and the method for attaching the driving machine 20 of the elevator device. The elevator device is provided with a cage 11 and a counterweight 12 in a shaft 10. It is provided with the driving machine 20 mounted on a cross beam 8 or a shaft roof 10a. The driving machine has two driving zones 3, 3' separated from each other at an interval.
