<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal capable of entering a starting point and an ending point of a movement of an entry, and entering a determining operation easily and naturally without a user being conscious of it, by not carrying out character input by a key operation only or by a tilting operation of the terminal only, but by both a tilting operation of the terminal and the key operation. <P>SOLUTION: A vowel is selected by a tilting operation of the terminal during a key contact for a consonant selection. Operating instructions for characters are selected by a tilting operation of the terminal in which a key is depressed, and by releasing the depression of the key, the instructions are determined and taken in as an input. This can eliminate the problem in entering characters on a portable terminal that to enter a character, a corresponding key has to be depressed several times, and that many key operations are required for entering characters of sounds including a voiced sound symbol, a semivoiced sound symbol and a lower-case letter, requiring cumbersome operations due to a lot of finger movement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
