<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage or the like of a lens barrel and a driving gear part therefor by stopping unnatural force from acting on the lens barrel and the driving gear part by preventing the lens barrel from being extended when an obstacle exists at a position near the front of a camera. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is equipped with a collapsible mount type lens barrel, and a light emitting part and a light receiving part facing the extending direction of the lens barrel. it is equipped with a light emitting means (#11) making the light emitting part emit light after a main SW is turned on, a decision means (#12) deciding light receiving circumstances by the light receiving part, and a power source turnoff means (#14) turning off the main SW before the lens barrel is extended when the result of decision by the decision means shows that the obstacle exists ahead of the lens barrel. In the camera having such a constitution, the lens barrel is protected because the main SW is turned off before the lens barrel is extended in the case of deciding that the obstacle exists ahead of the lens barrel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
