PURPOSE: A flat type fluorescent lamp is provided to achieve improved luminous efficiency the uniformity of brightness, by arranging tube spacers with discharge holes between two transparent flat plates. CONSTITUTION: A flat type fluorescent lamp comprises an outer lamp body, tube spacers(11), fluorescent films, and discharge electrodes(13). The outer lamp body is constituted by a front plate(1), a rear plate(3), and sealing members(5,7,9), and has a discharge space. The tube spacers are arranged between the front plate and the rear plate so as to form a discharge path. Each of the tube spacers has a sealed end, and a side with a plurality of discharge holes(11a). The fluorescent films are deposited on an inner surface of the outer lamp body and surfaces of the tube spacers. The discharge electrodes are mounted on the outer lamp body.
