<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in a property due to corrosion of a metal wiring layer and a current leaked therefrom in an electrode substrate having the wiring layer and a transparent conductive layer. <P>SOLUTION: This electrode substrate has a metal wiring layer 12 and a transparent conductive layer 11 electrically connected to the wiring layer 12 on a base material 10. An electrode substrate is used, wherein the wiring layer 12 is covered with an insulating layer 14 composed mainly of heat-resistant ceramics.
