摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the initial pole position of a synchronous motor by little number of times of operations for an estimated time. <P>SOLUTION: The method for estimating the pole position of the synchronous motor includes a step of measuring q-axis current while changing a pole position error angle &theta;<SB>err</SB>, a step of obtaining the pole position error angle &theta;<SB>err</SB>when the q-axis current becomes the minimum according to a quadratic curve approximation by a least square method from data of about four points of the q-axis current to the error angle, and a step of correcting a position detection output &theta;<SB>E</SB>. Thus, since the estimation of the pole position error angle &theta;<SB>err</SB>is conducted by the quadratic curve approximation from relative data of limited &theta;<SB>err</SB>and iq<SP>*</SP>, an accurate pole position can be estimated by little number of times of operations. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
