SPEED CONTROLLER AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING POLE POSITION OF SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the initial pole position of a synchronous motor by little number of times of operations for an estimated time.

SOLUTION: The method for estimating the pole position of the synchronous motor includes a step of measuring q-axis current while changing a pole position error angle θerr, a step of obtaining the pole position error angle θerrwhen the q-axis current becomes the minimum according to a quadratic curve approximation by a least square method from data of about four points of the q-axis current to the error angle, and a step of correcting a position detection output θE. Thus, since the estimation of the pole position error angle θerris conducted by the quadratic curve approximation from relative data of limited θerrand iq*, an accurate pole position can be estimated by little number of times of operations.
