INVENTORY GENERATION MANAGEMENT DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce generation of inventories and improve efficiency in data storage system operation.

SOLUTION: Concerning an access device of a data storage system, an inventory generation management device is provided with a latch which is arranged so that it may be moved from a first position to a second position by opening the access device of the data storage system. A sensor detects a latch state indicating the position of the latch. The inventory generation management device also includes a control logic connected to the sensor by allowing its communication with the sensor. When the sensor indicates that the latch is in the second position, the control logic enables the data storage system to generate the inventory of one or a plurality of storing places which relate to the access device. When the sensor indicates that the latch is in the first position, the control logic does not enable the data storage system to generate the inventory of one or a plurality of the storing places.
