<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fireproof sheet with which the danger of reflash is less even when the fireproof sheet is put on a flash point and the sheet is removed early, and heat is not easily transmitted to a disaster victim even when it is put on for escape from the scene of a fire. <P>SOLUTION: This fireproof sheet is composed of a water insoluble water absorptive resin (A) whose water absorption magnification is 10 to 1,000 g/g and average particle size is 50 to 500 μm and a nonflammable or fire retardant sheet (B) such as glass cloth. In the fire extinguishing method therefor, the fireproof sheet is allowed to absorb water and then is covered on the fire point or the fireproof sheet is covered on the fire point and then is absorbed with the water by applying the water from above.
